Wimberley Head Version II WH-200 gimbal head

When to choose it
The WH-200 is a dedicated tripod gimbal for a collared lens. Position the lens fore and aft on a compatible plate and set platform height to find the balance point. A balanced setup can be easier to move when following a subject across the frame.
The mounting guide uses a 3/8-16 stud under the head. Check the lens, foot and receiver above it separately. Wimberley's chart shows when a particular lens needs a replacement foot or a different plate. Include that part in your setup if you do not already own it.

Questions about this accessory
Can I keep a tripod with a 1/4-inch stud?
The manual discusses reversing an appropriate dual-thread stud or using a suitable reducer. Check the tripod before ordering either part.
Does every lens take the same plate?
Check the Wimberley compatibility chart for the exact lens. Different revisions can use different plates or feet.
What makes this different from a ball head?
It is designed to balance a collared lens on a platform before following motion. A ball head is simpler for general framing with short lenses.
