Find the code in the tripod head manual. RC2, RC4 and video sliding systems are distinct shopping paths even when several plates share a familiar camera screw.
Inspect what comes with the plate
Compare adapters, anti-rotation pins and alternate screws with the camera or camcorder you own. The plate's mounting hardware does not determine what clamp it slides or locks into.
Before you replace a tripod part, work out which two parts it joins. A matching camera screw says very little about the clamp, bowl or stud elsewhere in the setup.
Start with how you frame. Some photographers want to move several directions quickly, while others want to correct a single angle without changing the rest of the composition.
Choose the camera orientation you need and inspect how the part will stay attached while you change it. Then check the accessories you need to reach around the camera.
