Choosing portrait mounts and l-brackets

Choose how you change orientation

A fixed L-bracket gives the clamp another face to grip. A rotating mount uses a different mechanism. Decide whether maintaining the lens axis is important to your setup.

Check what stays accessible

Inspect space for the battery door, cables, articulating screen and lens controls with your actual body and cage. Look at the side face in the mounted orientation.

Can a similar body model have different fit?

Yes. Treat the full camera name and revision as part of the fit check, especially when the accessory follows the body contour.

Why does the plate under the bracket matter?

That profile must match the head's receiver in each orientation you intend to use.

Check the door and connector clearance with the camera vertical as well as horizontal, and with the cable you use.
