Camera Tripod Accessories
How to check a quick-release or portrait mount
Choose the camera orientation you need and inspect how the part will stay attached while you change it. Then check the accessories you need to reach around the camera.
Compare an L-bracket with a rotating mount
A fixed L-bracket can present a second face to the clamp. A rotating mount changes the orientation by a different mechanism. Consider how much of the original framing you want to keep.
Check camera doors and lens controls
Inspect the relevant camera and lens, including doors, screens, cables and switches. Some controls may sit close to a mount in only one of the positions.
Verify the clamp on each face
Check both orientations with the documented receiver type. Lever and screw clamps can have different clearance and release requirements even if their plates are from the same broad profile family.
