Manfrotto 438 threaded ball camera leveler

When to choose it
The 438 sits between a compatible tripod platform and a separate head. Set the legs where the ground allows, then use the ball leveler and its bubble to trim the horizon. This is useful for a head you already like when the tripod itself has no built-in leveling adjustment.
Check for a matching threaded attachment above and below the leveler. The ball is part of the leveler; it is not a 75 mm or 100 mm bowl mount. If your legs use a bowl, start with the stated bowl interface instead.

Fit and buying advice
Confirm the threaded support and the compatible head separately. The leveler adds height and has a lock you need room to reach.
Care Set the platform using the bubble, then lock the leveler before starting a pan with the separate head.

Questions about this accessory
Does the 438 replace the video head?
It levels a separate head. Use that head for pan, tilt or drag functions.
Can I fit it in a video tripod bowl?
This selected leveler uses a threaded attachment. Check a model designed for your bowl instead.
What is the useful difference from leveling the legs?
The leveler lets you adjust the upper platform without moving each leg again once the tripod stands securely.
